Become comfortable with diversity

"I try to find common ground with everyone... That I might bring them to Christ" 1 Cor 9:22

It's a mistake to think that your way is the only way! Paul wrote: "I try to find common ground with everyone... That I might bring them to Christ." You must learn to become more comfortable with diversity. After all, staying healthy means eating a varied diet; you'd be foolish to eat just one food group, right?
When people feel like you respect them for who they are, you're more effective at influencing them and helping them to change. The Bible says, "In Christ's family... you all are equal... In a common relationship with Jesus" (Gal 3:28). Just think, when the saints of the ages gather around God's throne to praise Him, they'll not only be from different continents and cultures, but different eras - some from the early church and some from the space age, all worshipping together. What a concert! But you won't enjoy it if you're so narrow that you only know one song, because they may not be singing that particular number over there!
Some of God's choicest characters were culturally diverse: like Moses, an Israelite raised in an Egyptian household to increase his understanding and prepare him for his destiny. Or Peter, who was prejudiced enough to think that God only used Jews, until God straightened him out saying: "if God says something is acceptable. don't say it isn't" (Acts 10:15 NLT). Jesus prayed, " that they may all be one... that the world may believe" (Jn 17:21 NASB). God knows there's one thing the enemy can't stand, it's Christ-centered unity that transcends diversity!

Who's in charge?

When savage storms or other weather-related catastrophes occur, mankind usually blames them on "Mother Nature." Weathermen are quick to cite statistics of similar storms that occurred 30, 60 or even 100 years ago. But what they often do not say is that such storms—as well as violent earthquakes—are becoming more frequent and more forceful.
And the "experts" are seemingly in total ignorance of the fact that there is a Great God who ultimately controls natural events—who blesses nations that obey Him with "rain in its season" (Leviticus 26:4), and who can (and often will) punish a rebellious people with drought and famine (v. 19). Jesus Christ predicted that natural disasters would be one of the signs preceding His return to this earth as King of kings: "For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences [i.e. disease epidemics], and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows" (Matthew 24:7-8). This booklet is a warning from the servants of Almighty God. Unless America and the British-descended peoples of the world repent of their heinous sins, the very God of creation will soon intervene to bring about the most horrifying storms and natural disasters in modern history! Then "normal" weather cycles will start changing. In fact, nearly everything around us will start changing—unless we nationally or individually repent and truly turn to the God of creation.

I believe it's not only talking to americans and british but to all of us as well. For a continuation check out http://www.lcg.org/files/booklets/wcw/

Thoughts for the day

What is awesome?

well... i was watching animal planet in a cafe and the program was showing humpback whales swimming. The view of the camera from the top looking down on the blue ocean with two whales swimming side by side by the coast of an island, it was awesome and majestic the way it swam... gliding as i would describe it up and out then back into the sea without making a splash but just waves. just the sight of the ocean was amazing enough but with the compliment of the two whales made it almost perfect..

God is awesome isn't He? just look at His creation it reflects the beauty and awesomness of Him.
I think whales are a perfect example that reflects God's glory.

This year's Celebrations were and will be great..
Had a youth christmas party yesterday in church, had lotsa good food and all that but i kinda forgot my fruits *crap*

One thing that I really appreciate and learn to understand about this season is friends. Friends are the most important part in this celebration. It's for us to share the love and joy to all people.
How are we going to make it happen? thats the question...

I really appreciate my friends this christmas, coz without them there wouldn't be people to celebrate this great occation with. But the there is one who is the most important and greatest friend and Christmas is all about Him and His name is Jesus. It's his birthday that we're celebrating. Thats the main meaning Christmas ; "Christ" mas(well erm.. i dunno what mas stands for). God Bless everyone during on this special occasion.

Learning the history..

Sitting in my pastor's house...

I've learned about the history of the fireBRANDS of how it came about.
The things that it went through before it got to a point where it was called the fireBRANDS till today.
It's amazing to know how the fireBRANDS came about and how it lasted for this long. By God's grace all things are possible and nothing is imposible for Him. I really appreciate Pastor HC for working with the youth for so long and thanks to God for seeing it all through.

Looking back as i listened and seeing how far the fireBRANDS have come, i'm gratefull for it or else the church would be am pretty boring place to be in for youths. i can't imagine life without a christian youth meeting.. I wouldn't dare think of what we would be like. God Is Good!!

What a productive day!

hmm... pretty boring day today...
sitting in my chair typing my journal in my pastor's laptop...hm...

(switchfoot's only hope playing in background)
God's been good this week as you know it's after youth camp so...
still suffering from lost of voice from shouting praises to my King..
and also very tired this week but refreshed spiritually.

Still having my holidays which will be up to about next year January before school starts.

My journey with God has been great with a few bumps and potholes.. which i need to get them fixed... asking God to pour concrete over them make em' smooth.. --still under construction--

been doing my devotionals lately and was a lil bit behind.. so i was reading a few pages back..
but then i flipped the wrg page which was actually "the" right one.
I've read the article a few days ago but it didn't really speak to me, but yesterday i flipped to it and it was the same thing that Pastor Cowen was talking about in the morning.

which was about "Making the first step" in restoring relationships. we need to make the first move. We can't wait for someone else to make the move coz then it might never happen when everyone's waiting for everyone else. we need to make a move. It requires a lot of humility and courage to do that. But we can draw our strength from God. We just need to do our part and leave the rest to God. What happen's next is up to God and the other party.

This is for those who get to check this one out.

Well the reason I made this blog was coz i had nothing to do in my frends house so i thought of writing some stuff.

Just to start of. I just came back from youth camp yesterday. It was pretty tiring and all of us were exhausted but some of us just can't stay put. We had to go to Coffee House coz the DTSers were leaving tomorrow(Sunday 19th).
So we dropped by to say hi and bye. Colt is going back to the States today and Rach will bo going back to Uk at the end of this year.

YOUTH_CAMP

This year was awesome. It kicked off pretty fast by God's grace. Everyone was jumpin' and shouting; praising God.
The theme for this year's camp is 'ONE ARMY'. And i think it's really appropriate and the right theme for the youths because this is the generation that's gonna take on the world. What's really cool is that it was a conformation about what i heard 2 years ago about this generation the word 'This is your generation' which spoke to me about my generation being the next generation. Pastor Chong Leang was our speaker this year for the night sesions and Pastor Heok Cheow was the speaker in the morning. I believe in this camp many people are touched and lives will be changed. I pray that they will not lose this passion and zeal for God. I pray thata they keep the fire of God burning and will make a difference in the people around them. This involved a lot of spiritual warfare and will need constant prayers. We had a spiritual attack on the last night. Some of us experienced it first hand and some of us felt it. But we prayed and broke through with God's power.

The setup this year was cool too. We had a sick set of drums with a total of 8 cymbals and 7 hardwares( 2snares, 2floortoms, +basic stuff, and 2crashes, 2rides, 2sets of hats, a crash/ride flipped over, and the bonus of all a splash which took me 2 weeks before i could get it from a friend), we had 2 electric guitars, an acoustic and a bass and keyboard. there were lots of new faces; those younger ones, at least i haven't met them before. All these things were totally a blessing from God. I can't wait till next year when it's going to get better.
